Our ESG Performance

At Renergia, we are committed to protecting the environment, generating value for all stakeholders, and promoting long-term sustainable development. ESG principles are fully integrated into our corporate strategy, guiding every investment, process, and operational decision.

Our goal is to contribute concretely to the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors through the production and distribution of sustainable biofuels, fostering a circular economy model that recovers value from waste and organic residues.

We believe that sustainability is not only environmental but also social and economic: we aim to generate a positive impact for the communities where we operate, providing essential services, qualified job opportunities, and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety in our facilities.

Our approach is based on three fundamental drivers:

  • Management leadership

  • Active people engagement

  • Continuous performance improvement

We constantly monitor results through key Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) covering three areas:

1. Environment

Priority topics – KPIs

  • Air emissions: Continuous monitoring of emission quality, greenhouse gases, and the production of biomethane and bio-LNG to replace fossil fuels.

  • Waste and water resource management: Production of biogas, biomethane, and compost from organic and agricultural waste; rainwater collection and reuse; reduction of wastewater.

  • Noise pollution: Monitoring of noise levels in compliance with regulations.

  • Biodiversity protection: No activities in environmentally sensitive or high-risk areas.

2. Social

Priority topics – KPIs

  • Local communities: Development of local employment, professional growth, and implementation of sustainable practices.

  • Health and safety: Monitoring of accidents and near misses, continuous employee training, and compliance with ATEX regulations.

3. Governance

Priority topics – KPIs

  • Accountability and transparency: Adoption and continuous updating of ESG policies, management training on sustainability KPIs.

  • Regulatory compliance: Implementation of Model 231, GDPR, and Whistleblowing procedures.

This structured approach allows us to measure progress, promptly address critical issues, and ensure the sustainable evolution of the entire Renergia ecosystem.

Results to Date and Near-Term Outlook

In 2023, we completed the construction of our first plants and started operational production.

  • In September, Biomet Ambiente S.r.l., at the San Rocco al Porto site, began processing organic municipal waste (FORSU), starting biomethane production in November.

  • In December, biomethane liquefaction started at the Belgioioso (PV) plant, managed by Biomet GNL S.r.l.

In line with our commitment to continuous improvement and the adoption of international standards, in 2024 Biomet Ambiente obtained ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) certifications.

By 2025, the certification process will be extended to all Group companies: Biomet GNL S.r.l., Agrimet S.r.l., and Renergia S.p.A.

Also in 2025, we will publish our first Group Sustainability Report, prepared according to GRI – Global Reporting Initiative standards. The report will provide transparent and measurable disclosure of the Group’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, representing another step toward responsible and conscious management.

The Group has already obtained national sustainability certification for biofuels under the Decree of 14 November 2019, for the integrated supply chain from biomethane production (Biomet Ambiente) to its liquefaction (Biomet GNL).
